Daniel Borlandelli was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in December 1958. After deciding that tools and brushes were my favorite toys, he started down the road, which he likes to call my art career. He took drawing classes with former professors of The School of Fine Arts .Everything he
learned since then has been through self-education. He also studied furniture design (1978-1980), but it was not until 1985 that he felt the need to communi-cate through sculpture and painting. That year he joined the workshop of Hugo Longa,an Uruguayan artist. From that moment on he decided to
devote his life to art amidst the awakening of Uruguayan contemporary art, which had been dormant during the military govern-ment, He decided to immigrate to New York in June 1989, and now works in his Long Island City, NY studio where he enjoys experi- menting with old techniques and new ideas.
