Christopher Strassner - Christopher's innate ability to "read" a raw piece of wood and visualize how the faults and interesting grain patterns can be accentuated is where his artistic process begins. He studies each log looking for faults or distinctive grain patterns and then makes decisions with the chain saw that define
where
those natural elements will appear within a particular form. His experience with
various hard woods has taught him to understand the wood and its inherent qualities.
Every piece of Christopher's work is an original--no two pieces are the same.
There are similarities in form, but ultimately it is
the inherent natural qualities that he brings out in a turned object which make each piece one of a kind.
