Steven Hayden's interest in ceramics began while attending high school in the Monterey Bay area of California's central coast. While this interest persisted, he earned a degree in Materials Science Engineering. His ongoing fascination with the art and science of using various materials and his love for the creative

process, brought him back to ceramics as his life's work. For over a decade, Steven has pursued novel ways to combine materials. With ceramic work at the core, ventures into blacksmithing and woodworking have moved his work in exciting directions. From practical dinner-ware pieces to decorative copper

saturated raku-fired forms; to home furnishings mixing ceramic, wood, and metal; his work is a true "coalescence of form, function, and art." Today, Steven's home and studio are found in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. It is here that his ceramic, metal, and wood work are carefully handcrafted.
